The sky opens at Jensen, but couldn’t change the result
13.04.08 =
The sky opened up at the start of the 20s, resulting in the
cancellation of the 20s due to an electrical storm. The storm passed
and the Bankstowns 1st grade continued in the main event.
Bankstown desperately need to win today, playing the sharks at home
they desperately needed to prove to their supporters that they can
play football, and play they did.
The first half was dominated by Bankstown, starting in the first 30
seconds of the game; they tested the sharks’ keeper. With a cross
from Makrys to find Harries in the Sutherland box only to have his
header saved by Zabaks.
12 minutes later Bankstown was at it again this time the Sutherland
keeper being tested by Webb with a 20 m drive only to be turned away
for a corner.
It wasn’t over yet, this time it was Liavas who crossed to Harries
only to be foiled by the Sutherland keeper.
It wasn’t all Bankstown with Sutherland attacking on the left with
Lyons, and crossing into the box to try and find the Sutherland
attack, but the defense of Bankstown was equal to the task of every
cross.
In the 32nd min a free kick by Milevski from 20 meters out struck
the wood work, minutes later it was Milevski with another long range
shot that brushed the woodwork for the second time in as many
minute.
The close of the first half saw a nasty head clash between Monie and
Katz. Both players dazed with Katz coming off second best.
The second half was totally a midfield battle with Nohra and Makrys,
dominating but unable to penetrate the Sutherland defense,
Sutherland continuing to counter on the left.
All in all an entertaining game that probably deserved a better
result for Bankstown although the crowd were content but would have
been happier taking all 3 points.
Next week Bankstown goes down to take on the wolves, with the form
that Bankstown has shown it will be an entertaining encounter.
